A question which was emailed to me: Is it supports in 64 bit windows OS?

Since shared cache is using 100% managed code it does support fully x-64 out of the box but I think we need to change something within the installer if you like to install it on 64 bit boxes. I done some researches and come accross this link: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netfx64bit/thread/e0652601-6693-42ba-824c-f9f1fa6b6979

Roni, I read that same post but I didn't have those issues with the msi, as I don't think you are using any custom actions? As I mentioned in the post last week http://sharedcache.codeplex.com/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=53125 I changed the Application Folder default location to use [ProgramFiles64Folder] as well as change the targetPlatform of the setup project and it installed correctly and is running as a 64 bit process with no problems so far.

If we want to make a single installer for x86 and x64 then we may have to deal with the custom action issue.

im not sure but [ProgramFiles64Folder] should work for both. if we deliver this with this change and the target platform x64 - it will be installed also on a 32bit system correctly. what do you think shall we change it?

--> Update: i created a installer with above mention folder but it does not work out for 32 bit. futher releases we should deploy 2 installers - 32 bit and 64 bit.

The problem is that changing the target platform to x64 will cause the MSI to not run on x86 systems. The only options we have, I believe, are to make 2 deployment projects with 2 seperate msi's or move the setup project to WIX http://wix.sourceforge.net/.
